Dear Mother and Dad:
Hello, how are you all, fine I hope and it is nice and (ineligible) there now. I hope the winter is short this year. I received your letter and I was glad to hear that you haven't had any colds this year and Dad is well. It wouldn't be long now until time to get ready to glean crops, I hope you'll be able to get enough help this year. I'm sorry Bob didn't get home for Christmas, maybe he'll soon be getting his furlough and 2 1/2 days is so short when he had to come as far as he did. I imagine he was rather blue, this his first one in the army. I imagine (ineligible) baby is fretful if he's cutting his teeth, maybe they'll soon be through and he'll all right again. I'm glad you like the picture that Georgia sent you. He is a fine little rascal if I do say so myself. I am really proud of him and my little wife, they mean everything to me. I can't wait to get home to them, I love them so terribly much. Maybe this year will get me home to them, I pray that I'll be with them soon. You should see me looking at Bruce's picture, his and Georgia's picture help me so much. According to the news over the radio the polio was about as bad as Hazel said, you see we get the news from home over it, also, in (ineligible), Life and other magazines and it seemed to be quite a bit of it last summer. I'm sorry to hear about "Jiggo" Bruce hope he gets slowly O.K. I didn't know Hubert had been discharged his leg must have been pretty bad. I can get cigarettes now, for a week the first part of Dec. we couldn't buy them. You see we are rationed so many packs a week at the (ineligible) everyone gets the same amount of cigarettes, candy etc. I understand cig. are pretty short there and they are being rationed 15 per person a day now. It has been snowing lots where Georgia and Bruce are and cold to, I'll be glad when spring comes so Bruce can play out lots, he really likes the out doors. Well, I'll sign off and say good night. I hope this finds all well, tell all hello.
Love to all
