Dear Mama, Daddy + All,
Hello and how are you all, I'm all right. We got off a half a day to-day but will work all day to-morrow. We had an inspection and my rifle passed much to my surprise, I didn't care much, whether it did or not. I wanted a pass [illegible] week but don't know whether I'll get or not.
Received you letter yesterday, sure was glad to hear from you. Dick is doing just fine with his orchard work, hope Daddy has all the corn up by now.
Maggie said she saw a little calf, it must have been Dick's yearling.
I haven't heard from Bill in a long time, don't know why he hasn't written.
A boy and I were playing a little while ago and threw a bed against the window and broke it, I guess we'll have to pay for it.
We have to change clothes before supper every nite, that sure is hateful, but on a whole I like this outfit much better than the old one, we have better officers. We have more time to do our work than we did over in the other company.
We are going out on the B.A.R. Range to-morrow, I've already fixed the weapon so it will be easy for me. (over)
We have had several cold days this week but it is so nice and pretty now wish it would stay this way all the time.
The exercise they give us sure is tough but I guess it's good for you.
Jim ought to try to stay out of the Army if he can. It sure is tough and him being (married?) it will be harder on him. Hazel said he was expecting to go in Jan. They are discharging men every day.
Well, I'll sign off for this time, write when you can. Tell all hello.
Love to all,
Bob
