The photograph is in an old frame which could be original. It has been re-packed with modern matboard backing, covered with brown kraft paper; this paper has been cut to remove the image for photographing. On the back of the brown paper are four white labels with handwriting, which read:

Dr. Henry Verias Westmoreland Born: April 15, 1843 Died: June 4, 1909 Buried in Mt. View Cemetery Greer, SC
Dr. Westmoreland was Greer's first medical doctor. He began practicing in Greer around 1870. One of Greer's first land owners, Dr. Westmoreland owned several acres of land in the area that is now Poinsett St.
In fact, Poinsett St. was formerly named Emma Ave. after his wife. Dr. Westmoreland's former home is still standing and is located at the corner of Poinsett St. and North Ave. It is now the home of Wood Mortuary
