Dear Grandparents,
We have just re-ceived your card and also one from Aunt Ernestine. We sure was surprised and glad to the card Mama was surprised when we came home from school with the mail and told her ^that she got a card from you that she didn't want to believe us. Neither could I believe it, for it has been so long since we last heard from any of you. How are all of you
2
getting along since we last heard, from you. Have has the "flu" got started down in that part of of the country or has any of you had the "flu"? It has started in our community and is hurting some of its victims very badly. I was so glad when I read your card and saw these words, "I am coming to see you all be-fore long as we can't hear any thnig, from you." But I am afraid you will not hold to your word. I want you to come about the
3
first of April. Our school will be out the seventh day and I want you to be here then. You will not be working along ten very much and besides you are getting to old to work, you all ought to come often any way. Get some of the people on youe place to do the milking and your feeding and come on. Just the same there are so many of us that we can't pick up and start. Jame and I talked about coming X-mas but didn't get started.

Marshall went to uncle Augustus in January. We thought probably that he would come back by to all of you but when he came back he said he had not been to see you. If all of you don't come before summer I am coming then to see if I can't find some of you.
Ma said to tell you that she had quilted one quilt this week. We

we killed two hogs lask week but they weren't very large ones. Papa is hauling logs to the saw miil and is building him a new barn. He is also getting up some material to build a new front porch. we have already made new back porch of cement it is a good one.
Well I am about to forget anything that I could write so I will tell you I am still going to school here at home but am thinking I would try to finish
6
the tenth grade at Keowee. When I get throught there I am going to college some-where I haven't dicided where I will go yet. Won't you help me to dicide, wont tell aunt Bertha to come up here and help me to het some dresses made for the last of school. Mother said that she wanted her to come and keep her to make them, because she though she could
7
better than she come down there. ha! ha!
Well I have already made you tired ^ of trying to read thisand have detained you long enough from your work. Paunee, Alice and Alma are making as much noise running over the house that I have got this so full of mist takes that it is all in a mess. I am so nervous that that I can hardly write at all. I don't know whether you can
8
read this or not, but if you can't do the best you can and I will try and do better next time Mama is getting right this minute so I guess I had better close and begin my debates for to-morrow. I will close, with much love to all of you. Your Lovingly XXXXXX Carol d.
