Dear Miss Audrey,
Your invitation was received a few days ago, and regret very much indeed that I am to loose another friend but I suppose it is with matrimony, all it was with the goat, not satisfied with his side of the fence and often nearly breaking his neck getting over, he wished himself back again.
However I have no fear that you will wish to do as he did.
I sincerely regret that it is impossible for me to be with you and your friends on your wedding day, but would suggest that you take a [run?] up to Boston + to Maine, since the weather here is such that it will prevent anybody’s melting.
Congratulating the groom + wishing you many years of happy married life.
I am very truly.
Nicholas L. Gibbon
