- Winfield R. Walkley (1909 - 1954) of New York worked for the Treasury Relief Art Project that employed artists during the Great Depression. He was commissioned to create a mural for the Greer Post Office. His 1940 mural "Cotton and Peach Growing" can be seen in Greer's museum today. During World War II, he served in the Office of War Information as an artist-offset technician.
