- Carl Lanford was born in 1904 in Woodruff, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and served 27 years as superintendent, engineer and manager of the Commission of Public Works in Greer. He was responsible for the initial planning for Lake Cunningham and Lake Robinson. He married Mary Sue Bobo, and they had four children. He died in 1982.
