Biographical Text: W. M. Thompson opened a hardware store in Greer in 1906. Three years later, he became Greer's first automobile dealer, selling Fords. He also opened an agency in Greenville. Thompson sold the Greer store to Dan Davenport, who renamed it D & D Motors.
