Seattle Wash
Dear Dad,
Things are going along here in Seattle pretty much the same as at the time I last communicated. There have been no radical changes in my situation. However, a few weeks ago I decided that I could no longer stand to be ____ to Ted’s lengthy verbal spells and as a recent I moved out of his apartment. I’m now renting another apartment in that same building.
The Dale Carvegio course is rolling along very smoothly and so far has been very rewarding. Of course I’m not expecting it to work terrific wonders but I’m sure that it will give me some benefit.
Autumn has arrived here at last, thank goodness. After one of the hotest [sic] summers in Seattle’s history the temperatures have at last dropped into the delightfully cool 40’s and 50’s. I notice in the papers that readings in your part of the country are still in the 80’s amd 90’s.
I still am unemployed, although there are several possibilities I now have going for me. The competition for work here is tough: There were some 20 qualified applicants competing for one job for which I applied. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to stay here without a job.
One thing I decided to do while I’m here is to have my front tooth straightened. Through friends and connections I got a ____ price from a dentist here of only $65.00. I would estimate that at the regular price I’ve already gotten $200.00 worth of services from this dentist so afar. He thinks that I’ll have to wear this orthodontics appliance (brace) for about six months.
I’ll try to be better about writing but with nothing much to write about it is different. Perhaps post cards are the answer.
Don.
