Hi Don,
I sure was glad to hear from you. Hope you are getting along alright with your studies at Wofford. I know you are, though. I miss being around so I can see you every weekend.
Don, you have a good idea about us communicating with tapes. I don’t know if I can borrow one or not but I am going to buy one as soon as I save the money. They have a lot of used ones at a store here. I haven’t looked at them and don’t know what kind of shape they are in. They have Webcon recorders at all the PX’s. THere is one Post Exchange that has Hi Fi amplifiers (Arkay) AM and FM tuners and test equipment.
I haven’t been to New York yet, but I shall plan to go. It will be the first week in May before I can get to go. I went to the beach last Sunday. THe ocean is only seven miles from here. There is city bus service to the beach about every half hour.
I have taken up an interesting hobby here to pass the time. There is a complete photo lab here which students can use free of charge. You can develop negatives, make contact prints or enlargements, and all chemicals and paper are free.
If you can come up this summer, and I certainly hope you can, there is a great house here on the post. I don’t know what the rates are but they are reasonable, I am sure. However, as soon as I can, I will find out exactly what the prices are and let you know.
We’ve had nice weather up here. It has rained only once since I’ve been here.
How about sending Billy Hayes’ [sic] address. I would like to write him sometime when I get a chance.
Well, I can’t think of anything else to say, so I’ll close for now. I have to get ready for inspection in a few minutes, so until I see you again, take care of yourself and don’t study too hard. Write again when you can.
Your friend,
Fred
P.S. There is no use sending letter by air mail. It will get here at the same time by regular mail.
