Walter C. Barbare and his wife Nellie Cox Barbare ran the Greer Hotel on the corner of Trade Street and Randall Street from 1918 to 1926. he moved his office form Greenville where he had a practice in 1915. Dr. Barebare had his optometrist office inside the hotel. My grandmother grew up in the hotel and met my grandfather who was staying at the hotel. He was playing piano in a band that traveled around to entertain the troops during World War I. They were married in the hotel in 1924 and moved to Kentucky where his family lived.
