Thursday July 2= ‘53
Dearest Don;
It is a great blessing to have a young Isaac Watlon in the family. Keep on and you may be able to write some footnotes on “The compleat [sic] Angler”. I think it is funny that you should have beaten all those old experienced fisherman [sic]. Wel we surely have been enjoying the fish. I still have enough for supper tonight. Grandfather will be charmed to see a platter of crisp brown fish when he sits down to his evening meal.
Yesterday hot as it was, Grandfather felt the urge to gather some blackberries which today I made into jam. I guess I got about as hot cooking the jam as he did picking the berries for. I just about had to swim out of the kitchen where I took my seat in front of the air conditioner.
A letter from Uncle Franklin today says Patricia is in Hospital being treated for a recurrence of her skin ailment.
Give my love to your dear Daddy and I’m hoping 2= C= both of =u= again soon. Devotedly “Me Ma”
