Dear Judge and Don,
I know that this week holds sad memories for you as you recall the great change that came into your life a year ago. He can be happy in the sure knowledge that Ruth lives in a more blessed state, but the adjustment to separation has been difficult for you two.
You have both been very brave through this year. It is certainly a comfort to know that the darkest hours are behind you now, and as time goes on the poignancy of sorry becomes less.
Don, you are a talented and intelligent boy, and you have a wonderful future to look forward to. With the good guidance of your fine father, you will become the kind of man your mother dreamed you would be.
Judge, you will be lonely without your helpmate, but life is joyful when you have a purpose. It is good that you have a devoted son to work and plan for.
Be of good courage and look to the future with glad hearts.
Love,
Sophie
