Bonds Sells Name Brands
J. Harley Bonds has been in the furniture and appliance business in Greer for 16 years. Bonds Furniture Co. was founded in 1958 at 208 N. Main St. and served the Greer area from this location for 12 years. In 1970 the company moved into a modern new plant on Wade Hampton Blvd., Greer, which features 15,000 square feet, all on one floor.
Bonds Furniture Co. handles 11 major lines of furniture and appliances with a staff of 12 to help customers select the right piece of merchandise for each individual.
Mrs. Alpha Bonds, wife of J. Harley Bonds, was a partner in the business until her death three years ago.
Paget Firm In Business Since 1928
For 45 years Paget Chevrolet Co. has served the people of Greer and the surrounding area as a Chevrolet dealership. Founded in 1928 by J.S. Paget Sr., the company was called C. & D. Chevrolet Co. until 1963. Originally located at 114 W, Poinsett St., Greer, the business is now at 1203 West Wade Hampton Blvd. where it moved in August of 1968.
Today the business, which has a staff of 25 people, is headed by James S. Paget Jr. who took over the presidency of the company in 1966. Paget Sr. retired in 1968. Ben L. Paget serves as secretary. Other key people involved with Paget over the years include W.J. Gibson and L.B. Wilson who were partners in the company.
