South Carolina Greenville District
Personally came before me R Bowden and made oath that he saw J.M. Bowden sign seal and deliver the within deed to Morris Gosnell for the use and purpose therein mentioned and that John Hampton was a subscribing witness with himself to the deed — Execution of the same sworn to before me this 11th day of April 1863 R Bowden

To all men by these presents that I J M Bowden in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and Sixty Dollars to me paid by John Hampton have granted bargained & sold & by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto Morris Gosnell a certain tract or parcel ofLand known as the Richard Ward tract lying in Greenville District containing one Hundred & sixty acres more or less & bounded as follows beginning at Belews Line & running with Belews Mill Creek to my upper Line next to Hogback Mountain thence to a Locust. thence to the upper line of the said Richard Ward tract thence to a Chestnut & thence with the conditional line to a Chestnut oak & thence to a stake & thence to the beginning to have & to hold the same to himself his hears & assigns forever.
[struck out] Given under [struck out] I do hereby bind my self my heirs Execs Admins or assigns to warrant & defend the same or any part thereof Given under my hand & seal on this the 23rd day of Feby AD 1863
