R. A. Hamrick of Wellford Route 1. Miss Hamrick graduated from Byrnes High School last month.
After attending Wofford College Summer School, Miss Hamrick plans to attend Spartanburg Junior College this fall.
Miss Lyman's blue eyes twinkled when asked what she planned to do if she was the lucky girl to be named the 1961 Peach Queen. She smiled, revealing a row of pearly teeth and replied: "I would try to carry the honor the best I could and would apply the $500 to ward continuing my education."
Miss Parker hesitated a second while smapling the luscious peach and said she would also try to carry the honor as best she could and apply the scholarship toward her college expenses.
Both girls like to swim. Miss Parker also paints and indulges in the outdoor sport of skiing. Miss Hamrick, who is five feet, 4 1/2 inches and weighs 122 pounds, gets a kick out of baton twirling. Miss Hamrick's measurements are: 33-23 1/2-36.
When asked what the judges look for mostly in a beauty queen, besides beauty, Mr. Smith's smilingly replied, "poise and personality."
Both girls have plenty of each. - Relation
