Text: Peach Festival Parade Will Be On Television
Financial Drive to Begin on Tuesday

Plans have been completed for televising the parade during the annual South Carolina Peach Festival on the afternoon of June 14, it was announced this week by President Verne Smith. The parade will be televised over WFBC-TV and is to be sponsored by the Commission of Public Works.
Lloyd E. Hunt, chairman of the financial drive for the festival, announced that canvassing for the funds would begin here next Thursday morning and he urges the cooperation of local busines and civic leaders.
Another Peach Festival event will be the ladies' amateur gold tournament to be held at the Greer Country Club with prizes for the winners. Golfers from Greenville, Green Valley, Paris Mountain, Pickens, Fountain Inn, Tryon, Spartanburg Greer and other nearby places will compete for the title.
Mrs. Lewis Davis festival secretary, is asking that residents who would like to keep one or more visiting beauty queens in their home to contact her.
Festival plans are moving along on schedule and the 1961 event promises to be one of the biggest and best ever held here. Visiting dignitaries include Governor Ernest F. Hollings, and Senators Olin D. Johnston and Strom Thurmond.
