Text: Dear Sir:
As is indicated on the bottom of this letterhead, Greer will on June 10-13 play host to the Third Annual South Carolina Peach Festival. The two main functions of the Peach Festival are a gala parade of lovely girls and floats; following the Parade there will be a beauty contest to name the Peach Queen and a ball will be given in her honor so she may reign truly as queen of the ball and the Festival.
This letter is to ask you to designate personally, or have someone do so, a young lady whom you think would be an able and deserving representative of you County to come to Greer to compete for the title of South Carolina Peach Queen. All that is necessary for you to do for us is to send the name of a young lady not under sixteen years of age. This contest is based on beauty alone and there is no [underlined] talent involved as required in other contest in the State. The winner here will represent The South Carolina Peach Festival Association through the year in various occasions, including a trip to Philadelphia and possibly New York. She will also receive a beautiful trophy and a gift of a one hundred dollar wardrobe.
Upon receiving the name and address of you representative, we will immediately furnish her with all information pertinent to the contest. We are indeed anxious to have a representative from each of the 46 Counties in South Carolina to participate in our Peach Festival. We feel sure that we can count on you for able assistance in this undertaking. We would like very much to have the above information by May 10th as that is the closing date for entries.
We would like to extend to you a most cordial invitation to attend our Festival and assure you that a most hospitable welcome awaits you.
