Location
Greer is located in the Northwestern section of South Carolina at the foothills of the famous Blue Ridge Mountains. 175 miles north of Atlanta, 488 miles south of Washington, and 208 miles northwest of Charleston.
Population
Greer boast a population (city and suburbs) of 16,500 (est). Greer's population overflows into Greenville and Spartanburg counties which are two of South Carolina's most populated counties. 99.9% of the population is American born.
Climate
With an elevation of 1,037 feet and sheltered location, Greer's climate approaches the ideal. Extremes of heat and cold are unusual. The annual average temperature is 59.1 and precipitation 53.18. Slopes afford excellent drainage.
Industry Wants Greer!
Greer is the ideal location for textiles, plastics, food processing, paper products, furniture, rayon, glassware, and allied industries. Lights-Power-Water
Ample supply of lights and power for all industries. Good supply of pure water for domestic and industrial use. (Plans underway to increase water supply.) New sewage treatment plant recently completed.
Hospitals-Physicians
Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital (recently completed) 28 beds. Other hospitals 12 miles. Same 10 physicians and dentists.
Schools
One high school and four grammar schools. A new, modern high school under construction presently.
General Information
Newspaper, radio station, National Guard Armory, athletic stadium, library, hotels and motor courts, good police and fire protection. Clubs include Kiwanis, Lions, Exchange, B. & P. Women, V. F. W., American Legion, and others.

Heart of the Industrial South
Products of Greer's many industries include: textiles (rayon and cotton fancies; plain cotton, sheeting, print cloth); bedspreads, bath mats, rugs, robes, cotton seed oil and feed, fertilizer, men's shirts, flour, lumber, and mill-work, printing and publishing, monuments, utilities, carbonated beverages, ice cream, frozen foods, ice, meat products, and cannery products.
Greer is served by two outstanding systems. Southern Railway; main line, double-tracked, from Washington to Atlanta with excellent connections east and west. Piedmont and Northern Railway; which is an electric line operating between Greer, Spartanburg, and Greenwood, S. C.
Agricultural Wonderland
Greer peaches are sold and recognized nation-wide. Orchardists grow mostly Elbertas and Golden Jubilees, which are of unquestioned quality. Blooming season usually April and harvest during July. Nursery products grow readily in the Greer area.
Beef cattle raising is gaining recognition in Greer and boasts the largest beef cattle ranch from Greensboro, N. C., to Augusta, Georgia. Turkey and rabbit raising is evident. Other farm products include cotton, corn wheat, oats, hay, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, and truck farm produce.
Convenience and Beauty
Residences in Greer are among the finest in the nation. Large and small houses both share in the advantages of the community equally. Adequate housing, constantly on the upward trend, is afforded new residents and visitors. The aspect of physical beauty and a spirit of sincere hospitality reigns sublime in Greer. Churches of all the leading denominations are in Greer tending to provide spiritual food for the entire population. Greer offers attractions to all, including a group of well-stocked lakes for fishing, parks, theatres, and sporting events. Nearby are state parks, golf courses, and swimming facilities. The city is some 40 miles south of the famous Blue Ridge Mountains and other resorts. Cool nights with the mountain breeze makes this city ideal.
U. S. Highway 29 extends from New York via Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Greer, and Atlanta to the Gulf Coast. On state highways 101 and 14, extending from S. C. coast via Columbia and Greer to Western North Carolina, thence to the middle west. Motor buses and motor freight truck lines serve Greer North and South with regular service and excellent connections East and West.
