SENIORS VOTE ON PERSONAL TRAITS
The vote of the Seniors on the various traits of classmates was the most spirited in years. In many instances, the last vote counted determined who was to be accorded with the honor of being the choice of the class for the particular trait. The race for prettiest girl was especially interesting, there being a great diversity of opinion in the class as to who should receive this title. The final count showed that Virginia Gilreath had received a majority of the votes, with Mary Henderson getting only a few less. In the handsomest boy contest, Reynolds Smith finally emerged the winner over Julian Bailey. Paul Brannon received a flattering vote for the best all ‘round boy. Margaret Bennett and Hattie Bess Hendricks received most of the votes for the best all ‘round girl, with Margaret winning out in the contest. Chester Henderson was an almost unanimous choice for best boy athlete, but in the contest for the best girl athlete, the vote was close. Margie Crisp received the most votes, with Nina Digby and Mildred DeYoung also coming in for their share of votes. Mildred Glenn was voted the most popular girl and Miller Simpson the most popular boy. They received considerable competition from Virginia Crow and L. H. Mayfield.
Hattie Bess Hendricks and Margaret Bennett were arrayed against one another in the voting again in the most popular with teachers contest. Hattie Bess received the most votes in the contest, with Margaret coming a close second. Elizabeth Champion and Elizabeth Stone had most of the votes for the most accommodating senior. This contest went to Elizabeth Champion. Margie Crisp was voted the most original, with James Chick receiving a large number of votes also. Miller Simpson was adjudged to be the most talented Senior. Margaret Bennett was the choice of many in this contest. Elizabeth Champion was declared to have the best disposition. Margaret Allison came in for her share of votes in the best disposition contest also.
Carolyn Arnold was the choice of the class for the most dignified Senior, and again Margaret Bennett received the highest number of votes. The most attractive girl was declared to be Virginia Crow. In this contest, Virginia Gilreath also received a large number of votes. Reynolds Smith was voted the most attractive boy by a flattering vote. Lois Brown received a majority of the class’ votes on the quietest senior, and Janie Black was second in the voting on this trait. Elizabeth Mayfield was declared to be the most studious.
In the typical flapper contest, the Seniors were evidently at a loss as to whom they should vote for. Ellen Miller received the most votes, however, and Mildred Glenn and Virginia Gilreath tied for second place. Many others also received votes. L. H. (Judge) Mayfield ran away with the typical sheik contest. The girl most in love was Evelyth Glenn, according to the opinion of the Seniors, while the boy most in love was voted to be Eugene Bettis. Mildred Miller received the most votes for the old fashioned girl. Lois Brown received the second largest number of votes. WIlliam Brown and William Vaughn were the Seniors’ choice for the old fashioned boy, with William Brown receiving a small majority of the votes.
