VESPERS
Of all the meetings, assemblies, and swimming none are more stirring or interesting than Vespers. The Vespers are led by Rev. Ralph Shumaker. The “More Than Food” Quest is responsible for these fine programs.
The first night the program was held on the waterfront and the program was about a stream. The second was held on the steps of the “Rec” hall and the program was on an oak tree. The third meeting in this series was based on a mountain. It was held in the “Rec” hall in front of the fire palace.
– Coby Alexander
“Food and Fellowship”
This Quest is a very interesting quest. In it you learn about manners. Shero Abe talked to us about Japanese manners, dress, and religions. It was an interesting event.

“Food for Growth”
The Food for Growth Quest has been studying the basic food for a healthy body. They are also learning the value of vitamins and what the lack of vitamins will do to harm your body. Under the leadership of Iva Lee Mcrady, this quest has been quite successful and we know will serve its purpose well.
– Ellen Cunningham
“Food for All”
This, to us, seems a very interesting quest. The members are very active. They are getting up a program to be presented Friday morning entitled “Truth and Consequences.” The questions are based on “The Call.” This playlet is going to be quite good we think. The actors in this playlet are very capable and lively.
In addition to the playlet which the quest is giving, they are making containers for the World Service Offering, which will be taken up in the dining room Friday night. This would be a fine way in which to do your part. Give as liberally as you think you should.
– Bennie Hughey
“Food and Conservation”
This Quest has been studying about the conservation of foods, forest and land. They learned how to prevent forest fires and erosion and such things that ruin good crops. The leaders of this Quest are Mr. Lybrand, Ben Cunningham, and Jo Ann Webb. They are doing a wonderful job of leading.

With the Sports–
Swimming– A swimming meet is to be held today at the waterfront. Underwater swimming, swan, and many other diving contest will be held.
Volleyball– many have liked playing volleyball. It is hard to tell which team is really the best.
Horseshoes has been enjoyed although it is not as easy as playing some other things.
Baseball– It has been great playing baseball. It rained Wednesday and the team got very wet.
– Larry Amos
What to do with an ager?!?
Mr. Lybrand– would feed an ager to a fish.
Kate Bennett– would put it in front of her cabin to protect her girls.
Jan Andrus said he would grind it up and eat it.
Mrs. Brown– would put an ager in a cereal bowl and serve it for breakfast.
And george would probably ask it for a date.
By the way an Ager is a Latin word meaning a field.
This has been a grand week of camp. There are 118 campers– 73 girls and 45 boys. We hope each of you will go home having grown in your thinking, especially about “Our Hungry World.”
