$686 00 Greenville, S. C., May 17 1889
On or before the 1st of Nov [October struck out] next, we or either of us promise to pay to WHITMIRE BROS., or order, Six hundred + Eighty Six xx| Dollars, for 240 Sacks of Fertilizers, with option to discharge the same with _________ pound of middling cotton at fifteen cents per pound, packed in merchantablle bales, de-livered at Greenville C. H., S. C., to the said WHITMIRE BROS, or their agent, at or before the maturity of this paper. If not paid at or before maturity the said sum to bear interest at ten per cent. per annum after maturity, and to be payable in currency only.
