This has been a banner year for the Museum.
Join us in celebrating these accomplishments!

In February, we moved the Legendary James Brothers performance to Greer City Hall to accommodate the crowd. Watch their full performance on the Museum’s YouTube channel.

University Collaboration

The Museum partnered with Bob Jones University to create a hands-on class, Introduction to Historical Studies, for freshman history majors and minors. Students did research and archival work for the Museum and presented their work at a special event in April.

GREER GHOST TOURS

More than 1,200 people joined us for walking tours of Trade Street and the cemetery. About two-thirds of those had never visited the Museum before! We also provided special ghost-free tours for Greer High School history and art classes, Leadership Greer, THRIVE Upstate, and several church groups.

DARK CORNER EXHIBIT

After 18 months of research and development, GHM unveiled Feuds & Fellowship: Independence, Defiance, & Community in the Dark Corner. The exhibit includes audio recordings of old-timers like Luemer Plumley and Alex Campbell, a film tribute to Dean Campbell, and a real-deal moonshine still.

Christmas at the Museum

The Museum’s annual Christmas tradition needed three full showings to get everyone in to learn about Greer’s wonderful, heartwarming, and unusual Christmas traditions and activities.

NEW DONATIONS

Nearly 100 donations were entrusted to the Museum this year. This included the fire department records from the 1940s-60s, the personal papers of a former mayor, photos of a train wreck in 1912, and even 30 elaborate funeral dresses from the late 1800s!
