Miss Audrey Davis,
Dearest friend-
Your very interesting letter was received some days ago and now amids a mixture of duties I make a pause, which would, doubtless would [crossed out -ed.] not be made, were it not for the sweet pleasure I find in a conversation with you; which, I must confess, I enjoy hugely.
I wonder, how you find your little self about now?
I guess, though, you have settled again to the monotonous duties of college life.
I went on a serenading trip a few nights since - I had quite a jolly time. Wish you could have heard the clatter of such a rough set of instruments as were performed upon. 'Twas quite a novel performance - drum, cymbals, fifes, banjos, violins, guitars, flutes &c.
Turkey Holler is getting over the excitement of the Xmas holidays. I for one am now weeding my [row?] as usual.
You must excuse this short letter and give good measure for bad in your next.
Hoping to hear from you real soon by a letter, lengthy, comparatively as the 119 Psalm.
Certainly Yours,
J. E. Alexander
Address me to Tylersville, Laurens County.
Bye Bye. J.E.A.
