Evinsville, S.C.
Nov. 22 92.
Miss Audrey Davis,
Dear friend:
Doubtless you will be surprised on receiving a scroll from me; but as I wished to hear from you, will take this opportunity of asking that privilege: so if it is agreeable, I would be pleased to correspond with you for awhile.
Guess you have recovered of the Woodruff fair long ere now. I enjoyed the fore-noon of the second day _hugely_, and I must say, that my mind is continually reverting, with pleasant ruminations, to that time, and particularly to the _company._
I attended a musicale on last Saturday night. It was a very pleasant occasion indeed, and I enjoyed it very much. but feel assured that if my _Greenville_ _Girl_ had been there, I would have received more laurels for my performance on the Guitar; but however, I know you will think me neither egotistical nor presumptive, if I say, I did receive a few.
Excuse all deficiencies in this letter.
So long,
Au Revoir,
J. Earle A[lexander] [the last name hase been scratched out, then written in pencil, then scribbled over]
