To the Honorable Mayor and Councilmen, of the town of Greer.
The Board of health of Greer, wish to hand you the following recommendations
for your consideration.
(1) We recommend that you pass an ordinance, that it shall be unlawful for
any one to slaughter live stock, to be sold as meat in the city, for human
food, unless it has passed inspection, said inspection to be made by some
officer of the city, or some one with ability to carry this out. And that the markets be inspected at regular intervals, also the slaughter pens be inspecte (crossed out)
inspected at least once a week, for the purpose of keeping them in a saintary
condition.
(2) We recommend that an ordinance be passed requiring all property pwners
in the business section of the city to install water and sewer with-in

four or six months from date of ordinance, and that it shall be unlawful for
any one to empty a drain pipe on the streets.
(3) We recommend that an ordinance be passed requiring all merchants,
dealing in human food-stuff in the city, to use screened crates for vegetables
fruits etc.
(4) We recommend that you prohibit the sale of fish on the street, unless
properly screened and protected from the fly.
(5) We recommend that you appoint a committee to investigate the covers of
the city wells and make some improvements on them, so there will be no chance of infecting the source of our water supply.
(6) We recommend an ordinance requiring all show houses operating in the
city to fumigate said houses once a week.
(7) Owing to the laws of sanitation which we already have, and the ones we
